Planning meals can help you save money, time and cook healthy nutritious meals. Let’s look at how your calendar can help you meal plan.
You might think calendars are a strange tool for meal planning but we actually look at them most days. They are also normally in our kitchens which means they are near to us while we cook. They also have just enough space for us to write meals on them. In this blog we will show you how to use your calendar for meal planning.
Pick your meals
I like to plan a week at a time. A week out I have more idea of what I would like to eat as opposed to a month out. I start by thinking about what I would like on each day. Some of it is dictated by tradition e.g Sunday Roast but other’s are down to what I think I will feel like. On a Wednesday I might work late so something easy like pasta would be great. Planning like this means you are more likely to actually stick to your meal plan.
Get Planning
Once I have a rough idea in my head of the selection of meals I would like to make, I grab my calendar. I write my dinners for each day of the week. You could also write down your Breakfast and you’re Lunch but that is up to you.
Then I would grab another piece of paper and write a shopping list. Write down the exact ingredients you need and put your shopping list aside to take with you when you shop.
Using your calendar means you can flick back and get some past menu inspiration. It also means that you have your meal plan in one place and you can just look at it when you go to cook.
You could print out the calendar above and use it as a meal planner. Just follow the link underneath to download your own.
If you did not have a hanging calendar, you could use your planner weekly view as well. You could also use a digital calendar like google calendar. If you use your calendar for meal planning, let us know in the comments.
